steel township

well as the name suggests.
steel township is a place where all the employees of rourkela steel plant (which comes under sail) resides.
this is an excellent place to live.
this infact is one of a few ISO 9001 and 14001 certified township.

this township is circumscribed by ring road whose length is 28km. so you can imagine that its not just any other colony. its in itself is a city.
every single need of this township is fulfilled by RSP only. starting from dustbin collection to the maintanence of roads, parks, beautification of sector , water supply and even power supply or taking care of health of employees.
there are around 20 sectors in the township where around 20000 family lives.
these 20 sector have almost 35000 quarters. so you can see the quarters are more than the employees. so there is no problem of allocating a quarter.

every sector has its market where all the necessary things can be purchased of.
then there are big markets like ambagan, sector-5 VIP market to name a few.
sector also have some very good schools like DPS, carmel, Deepika english medium school, ispat english medium school to name a few.
the environment here is very conducive to study and thats the reason every year many students get selected in IIT from this small place.

township also has rourkela club where all the recreational facilities are provided to rejuvenate yourself.
well the list is endless. now the time has come to go to plant and work :)

rourkela : melting pot of india

hi all i am sumit gupta. i belong to delhi. i am B.TECH(2008 pass out) in Chemical engg. like all engg graduates, i had also given PSU exams and fortunately i cleared SAIL exam.
during interview the panel asked me many questions. but among all, there is only one question which i can remember now, infact i will remember that for my life time.
they asked me to name the steel plants under sail in india.
i told them the name like bhilai, bokaro, durgapur, IISCO.
they told me that i have told all the name except one.
i was bewildered but couldnt guess any more name.
well.. and thats the way interview ended.

and when the result of interview came out, i got the last name.
and that one was ROURKELA.
the name which will remain with me for my lifetime.
